From the bride Daniella on her Post Hurricane Maria Destination Wedding in historic Old San Juan, Puerto Rico:
Choosing a unique venue for our destination wedding was our top priority from day one. As a photographer, Brennan, my husband, wanted a location that would allow for stunning photos. I wanted it to be somewhere meaningful and accessible to my large extended family. We ultimately found the perfect spot in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, at the nearly 250-year-old church where my grandparents were married over 65 years ago. We held our reception just down the road at the Casa de España, a historic cultural center featuring Spanish Moorish architecture.
Some of our favorite moments from the day included:
-First look photos on the beach in Isla Verde
-Exploring Fort San Cristobal during our portrait session
-An interactive performance by a Flamenco dancer as we wrapped up dinner
-A surprise serenade/”parranda” (a Puerto Rican holiday tradition) that got all of our guests dancing and singing along
Many thanks to all of our vendors (and my Mom!) who worked tirelessly to make our wedding possible only three short months after Hurricane Maria. And of course thank you to all of our friends and family who traveled to Puerto Rico to celebrate with us.
