I think for most people senior year of high school can be characterized by an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia from all the amazing memories of the past four years, but also by the excitement of the unknown going into the next chapter. I’m feeling it now just thinking back to that time in my life! Maybe that’s why I had such an amazing time connecting with Madeline for her senior photos. Madeline is the epitome of a high school senior with a zest for life (and fashion!) which made this senior garden session so much fun to shoot.
This session combined many of my favorite things about being a photographer: a bright and photogenic subject, a beautiful setting in Broad Ripple, and a stylish wardrobe! Let’s just take a moment to appreciate how flawlessly Madeline pulled together her look for these photos, from her fashionable outfits to her impeccable make-up. This girl is seriously talented, and I was honored to capture that beauty for her senior pictures!
The setting for this session was Holliday Park in Broad Ripple, Indiana. I just adore everything about Broad Ripple so I was excited to visit again for an afternoon of shooting. Holliday Park was ideal for Madeline’s senior photos since we were going for a garden woodsy look. The park is full of unique flowers and tall grasses, and even has some historic structures that make an excellent backdrop for photos. As a photographer, part of my job is knowing the best locations to shoot and I’m lucky that Indianapolis is bursting with both nature hideaways and urban areas!
I feel like shooting senior portraits with vibrant young people like Madeline helps keep me young and energized. You seriously cannot walk away from a shoot like this without a smile on your face. Best of luck in all that you do, Madeline! Your future is bright.
