The Art of Opulence
Throughout this day, you will be guided by expert floral designer Robyn of RK Florals, composition & styling expertise Kelsey Goodrich, and professional photographer Violet Short who will share their knowledge, techniques, and creative insights. They will provide hands-on demonstrations, step-by-step instructions, and personalized guidance to help you hone your skills and discover your own artistic style. The workshop will foster a collaborative and supportive environment, allowing you to connect with fellow enthusiasts, exchange ideas, and gain valuable feedback. By the end of the workshop, you will have not only acquired a comprehensive set of skills but also a portfolio of exquisite floral arrangements and photographs that reflect your unique artistic expression.
FLORALS
The fundamentals of fine art floral arranging, the principles of design and composition, and the art of creating visually captivating flower arrangements will be taught. Step by step demonstrations will be given, where key elements will be explained, such as color theory, processing and understanding the life stages of flowers, study of natural movement and angles and the precise placement of stems. We will explore different styles and techniques, learning how to select and combine flowers, foliage, and complementary elements to create harmonious and impactful designs.
STYLING
Styling will also play a pivotal role in the workshop. We will delve into the art of creating captivating tablescapes, incorporating props, textiles, and other decor elements to enhance the overall aesthetic and storytelling of your floral compositions.
PHOTOGRAPHY
As we delve into the world of photography, you will learn how to utilize natural light to capture the true essence of your floral creations. Violet Short will teach about lighting techniques, the interplay of shadows and highlights, and how to showcase the intricate details and textures of each bloom. You will practice shooting in various natural lighting scenarios indoors and develop your ability to capture the ephemeral beauty of flowers. No photography experience is needed. We encourage you to rent or borrow a camera and have a smart phone (Roberts Camera Rental; https://robertscamerarentals.checkfront.site/).

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the enchanting atmosphere of an old historic building that exudes the spirit of old world Europe. Woodstock Country Club's rich history breathes life into the workshop, fostering a deep sense of connection with the past.

ABOUT KELSEY
ABOUT ROBYN
Robyn K. Harder began her floral studio from a simple admiration and passion for flowers. Her love started as a child in her mother’s numerous perennial flower beds -- never did she realize that many years later it would be the foundation of her floral designing business. Longing for a more creative outlet, she left her corporate career to work for a local florist.
After a few years of ensuring a foundation in the vital aspects of floristry, along with managing weddings and events, Robyn ventured out on her own and established RK Florals.
Years of successful industry experience, along with continued international education from top designers. Her specialty is fine art floral compositions, inspired by the Dutch Master’s masterpieces. She creates with intention; designs with precise placement, spacing, color, and movement in mind.
Violet Short is an award winning and internationally published photographer that has been shooting professionally since 2010. Her job has taken her around the world for destination weddings such as Iceland, Japan, Mexico, and more. Her love for art began early and even from a young age, she drew inspiration from European art for her personal painting and sketching. Violet takes a cinematic approach to shooting being most inspired by natural light, literature and film. She’s often called a ‘light chaster’ as she’s always after the best lighting for photos. Location never matters nearly as much as lighting.
She resides in an old house in Indiana where she homeschools her kids by day and does her photography work by night.
Kelsey Goodrich has always had an eye for detail and an interest in all things creative - dabbling in fine art, photography, graphic arts, fashion, styling, and staging. In 2009 she started using social media as an outlet for showcasing these various interests with others who appreciate aesthetics, inevitably making connections with like-minded creatives like Violet Short to collaborate with on stylized photoshoots. The same fundamentals that she uses for staging and styling are applied to almost every facet of her daily life. Every decision on placement, color, and composition is thoughtfully considered in order to convey the desired response from whatever it is she is creating.
Kelsey's eye for detail and emphasis on aesthetics is most commonly demonstrated on her Instagram account, thegoodrichwife, where she creates content as a fashion and lifestyle influencer.
